Many believe that Abe Doumar, founder of Doumar's Cones & Barbecue, gave the world its first ice cream cone. Doumar was a traveling salesman retailing paperweights at the famous St. Louis World's Fair in 1904. When an ice cream seller exhausted his stock of paper dishes to hold the ice creams, he got a nearby waffle maker to roll his waffles into cones and thus invented the waffle cone. Love the ice cream. Love the staff. Mr D was a legend and his sons have continued the tradition. I continue to bring my friends there and introduce then to this gem in Norfolk.

This place has been a favorite since my childhood. A visit back to Norfolk wouldn't be complete without a stop at Doumars for bbq and ice cream!
The best barbecue sandwiches and the prices are wonderful. The Limeade was the Best in the city. Service was good too. ��������������
Our family of 5 went to this nostalgic little place still offering car side service! We had three barbecues, a burger, a grilled cheese, 3 fries, fresh limeades, a soft drink, a milkshake, a sundae and 3 double scoop ice cream cones all for $47. The food was yummy and my wallet was happy. We will be back!
