It's 2026. Grow up. We should be moving past outdated stereotypes instead of reinforcing them. You don't have to offer every style of dance, but publicly degrading instructors and stigmatizing sex workers or anyone associated with heels says far more about your values than theirs. I have videos back from 2019 in this studio. So incredibly SAD that new management is no longer allowing a safe space for dancers that have been coming here for so long. I will no longer ever step foot in this studio again. The instructors that made this studio so well known have been insulted by saying they resemble a gentlemans club. There was space for all of us but they chose to alienate the very people that made the studio what it was & why they would want to own it? New owners. Changed the whole culture of the studio. Will no longer be attending classes here. I want somewhere that is inclusive and not a mean girls judgmental zone.
It had been a few years since I last took classes at DGBEK, and after becoming a first time mom, I was excited to return to reconnect with dance and my confidence through heels. Unfortunately, seeing the new management publicly shame both heels dancing and the instructors who taught it completely changed my mind.
