At first, we got off to a misunderstanding. I decided not to file and had already paid the full retainer. I was under the impression this would be refunded. I was wrong - totally my own fault. Up front, I signed a document that explains the retainer fee is not refundable. Also explains if the attorney were charging by the hour, the total fee would be much higher.
