My personal opinion: Do NOT send your loved one here. We had no choice because they were the only facility with an open bed. My mother was sent there for physical rehab and the entire first week she was there she didn't leave her bed. The other 3 weeks she maybe had one hour a day of physical therapy. The food was always cold, the hallways always wreaked of urine, she was lucky if she got a diaper change twice a day. They also have a bug problem there. not a reliable place where you can trust your elders to be taken care of. my grandmother had a broken foot going into delmar, but because THEY didn’t do their job, her foot became infected. she had to have surgery, and now she has to have weekly appointments to check on it. Sad.
The Executive Director for Independent and Assisted Living, Rubiana, is to be commended for her caring. She goes above and beyond to make sure the residents needs are met. There are endless activities and the eating space is extremely pleasant.
First impressions are the most lasting imressions! The very fist time I walked through the doors I was greeted by Romana Coleman my mother had moved back to Georgia without securing a place to live . The first week I was at Delmar Gardens, my 6 yr. old granddaughter became separated from me. She was frightened and started to cry, Mona left her desk and soothed Catherine. This friendship has blossomed. Catherine will pass by me to hug Mona. Mona is a main selling point for Delmar Gardens. She is the first face you see when you enter Delmar.
