Our experience with this company has been deeply disappointing and harmful to our small business. My experience with Reposite, the company CVent purchased in 2024, has been horrendous. The company made repeated misleading statements about their business, their software by their own admission has major deficiencies, and their customer support is terrible. To make matters worse, the management team is tone deaf, incompetent, and defaults to gaslighting instead of problem solving. All calls to the Cvent headquarters in Virginia go to a call center in India.
I have never had as awful an experience as I have working with Cvent. We contracted with them and they told us their platform could handle our complex event but after every meeting (over 7 to explain our needs to different people) it was clear their platform simply couldn't. It didn't deliver a single thing we asked for. They also couldn't figure out workarounds in a timely manner so they told us our registration open date would need to be delayed by two months! If you're providing services to hotels for large bookings and claim to operate in the cloud I expect to see elasticity, not 2 hours of downtime during the busiest time of the year. You claim to work in AWS - learn how to use load balancers and elastic growth. You guys have wasted thousands of people's time today, self included.
Sham of a company. Don’t expect a partnership if your organization contracts with the company. You will be just an number; and that number—for it—are the dollar signs. Read the contract closely before signing. If your events are facing a problem—Covid, for example—do not expect flexibility. Cvent will know it has your back against the wall and will take advantage of your misfortune. Is it illegal? No. But, unethical? Absolutely. The most unpleasant experience in my 20 years working in the nonprofit arena.
