Not so helpful Contender has all of the pretty toys and shinny bikes but I've found their staff to be less than knowledgeable and quite aloof. They may have whatever the hot bike of the hour is but you'll pay an arm and a leg for it and there are other shops in Salt Lake where you can get better service, and they too can order whatever you want.
Contender Bicycles is an Excellent Experience I have lived on the East Coast for 10 years, but grew up in Salt Lake and make sure to visit Contender whenever in town. I have yet to find a shop that compares to the friendly atmosphere, quality service and excellent advice you receive at Contender. Great shop! Great shop! They are super friendly. They are were extremely nice with no attitude. As a woman, I really appreciate this. The staff was very knowledgeable but didn't try to overly complicate things. They also had a great selection of clothing.
A sweet ride Contender is cool in that you don't necessarily have to buy a bike (mtn or road) you see in their store. If you have something in mind, Contender will order it for you... like say, a Ventana cross country frame or specific wheels or brakes, or whatever. They will also build your bike to your specifications if you so choose to. Or, you can let the team of experts at Contender do it for you. Just tell them your level of expertise, what you're looking for in the way of a bike and how it'll be utilized and they'll w... read more
