Not so helpful Contender has all of the pretty toys and shinny bikes but I've found their staff to be less than knowledgeable and quite aloof. They may have whatever the hot bike of the hour is but you'll pay an arm and a leg for it and there are other shops in Salt Lake where you can get better service, and they too can order whatever you want.
Contender Bicycles is an Excellent Experience I have lived on the East Coast for 10 years, but grew up in Salt Lake and make sure to visit Contender whenever in town. Great shop! Great shop! They are super friendly. They are were extremely nice with no attitude. As a woman, I really appreciate this. The staff was very knowledgeable but didn't try to overly complicate things. They also had a great selection of clothing.
A sweet ride Contender is cool in that you don't necessarily have to buy a bike (mtn or road) you see in their store. If you have something in mind, Contender will order it for you... like say, a Ventana cross country frame or specific wheels or brakes, or whatever. Erica was very professional, knowledgeable, asked questions, explained the many features and differences of the brands and options and showed us some fantastic options. My bike broke on the first day of my trip to Utah. Brandon and the team at Contender came through 💯. Not only were they the only shop to have the parts to get my bike fixed they also had the repairs completed the same day. I can’t say enough about the customer and mechanical service from this bike shop. Contender bicycles saved my vacation.
