Moving to Bartow, I went to citizens bank to open a basic checking account until I could move all of my banking. Walking in, I ask the teller about information. Instead of sending me to someone, she proceeded to hand me a brochure at the teller line. I asked about banking fees and she gave me a very cursorary answer. When I again questioned her, she yelled across the lobby to a blonde lady sitting at the desk about the fees. I just closed my acct due to service issues. I called the brch mgr to request a hold be placed on my lone chkg acct. Instead of doing so, she questioned me as to why. I explained someone may have picked up 2 checkbooks I lost. She reacted by stating, "I'm not re-opening a new acct. You had too many stop payments (WHICH I GLADLY PAID FOR.) Too many fraud alerts, etc" She asked why a new debit card was issued to me. I felt as if I was in an inquisition. I knew then, GET OUT! The customer service at this location was cold and unfriendly. I heard that Citizens has a great reputation and I was looking forward to building a new banking relationship with them. By the end of my visit I felt like they didn't want my business simply by the tone of the conversation and the way I was treated. It is unfortunate that a local community bank doesn't excel in the service end of banking.
