Ignorant and VERY useless staff, how do these guys keep their jobs?
CIBC is an absolute disgrace. I’ve spent almost a month just trying to cancel a credit card. Hours on hold, calls dropping, and the branch staff are completely useless. The manager couldn’t care less—literally shrugged it off and told me to call again. As a working professional, my time is valuable. CIBC wasted it all and gave zero respect. This is the most incompetent and careless bank I’ve ever dealt with. My entire family is pulling out every account. Do yourself a favor and avoid this pathetic excuse for a bank.
These people should be charged for fraud. They are not trained in financial securities or advice, and yet they are giving totally wrong advice around risk, allocation, etc. None of the advisors have adequate training, knowledge, or experience to be making sophisticated recommendations. The “advisor” told me “you can’t hold cash in a TFSA it has to be in a fund”… blatantly wrong, and extremely condescending when asked about it. This was by far the worst service I have ever experienced at CIBC. Instead of helping, the staff threatened me and demanded unnecessary documents that should never have been required. I was even told: “I don’t have to ask you for this document, but I also have the right to ask you for it — whether I do or not depends on your attitude.” This is nothing but an abuse of power and outright intimidation.
