CIBC — the worst customer service among the “Big Five” banks. Clerks don’t do their jobs properly and often forget to inform clients about important details. If you still have to come here, it’s best to ask for a manager right away to double-check their staff’s work.

I went to the branch for issues on cheuquing account. The teller have her name tag behind her suit that I cannot see her name. She did not even know the minimum balance for the monthly fee for the account to be waived. She tried to correct me when I gave the right number. Then she directly read from the booklet for client and eventually said that I was right. This is a very basic account knowledge that every teller should know. If i can put zero, i will not rate this bank. Account got frauded multiple times, their people over the phone dont know what they are doing, even the staff in the branch doesnt know what to do. Asked to waive the overdraft few because the account was frauded again the fifth time, but they said they couldn’t do it. I had to ask again if there’s a way to waive it since it is not our fault that the account got frauded and then they offered to waive $5 but closure fee of the account was not waived.
