Would not let a friend of mine shop unless she left her purse up front. My friend was the only person that was told this policy and was the only black person.

I went to Chuck’s Market today located at 7133 Saint Charles Ave. Upon walking in the woman at the counter told me that I would have to leave my purse ( a small purse) at the door. I declined (as leaving my purse at a door that nobody was watching wasn’t safe). As I was leaving the store a white couple walked in. I told them the store’s policy as I was walking out. I see a review that says they are expensive, but worse than that they are openly Racist! So, don't bother even entering this place. Now, if you’re the owner and your views don’t reflect the views of the women who were working at the counter on October 29, 2025, and you actually do care that their actions were discriminatory perhaps you’ll do something about it. This place has always been outrageously expensive and generally I try and avoid it but today was their last chance. She tried to charge me $54 for a 12 pack of Stella! When I asked if there was a mistake she said no. Either she was trying to pocket some money or Chuck has completely lost his mind.
