Surprised by the other review Washington Mutual is horrible on customer service. Their managers are rude and unhelpful. Their customer service line is ill informed and rude. My daughter lost her debit card in Egypt. Because the phones are terrible there, she asked me to contact the bank for her as I am on her account. The bank said tough, she had to call, they wouldn't cancel her card. After many attempts, I was able to cancel her card. One of the better banks Out of all of the banks that I have ever banked with I have to say I am most impressed with Washington Mutual. I find that the associates are very friendly and knowledgeable. They seem to explain everything and in a way its easy to understand. I always recommend this bank to family and friends. One tip for any bank: open it then wait 30 days to use it. Banks always hold your money in the first 30 days. They also do not charge for non members to use their ATM.
