I was driving North on Statesville Rd when bus number 1874 did NOT stop for the stop sign coming off Norris Ave. and pulled right out into traffic. Someone needs to say thing. I drive around all day with my job and see buses doing things all day...
So sick of this schoolbus driving recklessly through our neighborhood. They are literally driving 65+mph through a small residential community with complete disregard for public safety. Our neighborhood has no sidewalks and they are using it to cut through to avoid traffic lights. There are kids playing, elderly people walking, pets - and this huge vehicle is just barreling through with no regard for the humans or animals that live here. The transportation department is doing their very best given the large number of students and lack of drivers. Everyone complaining their kid has to wait a whole hour (gasp, if only there was another way for them to get home….🧐) should go to the school, apply to be a bus driver, if you successfully pass the class and get a cdl, most school systems reimburse you for your school. Boom, your kid and others aren’t waiting as long with more bus drivers.
I am writing to express serious concerns regarding the transportation services provided by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS). The current bus service is creating ongoing problems for me and my kids. First, the bus is frequently late or inconsistent, which causes my kids to arrive at school after the day has already started.
