Why does Schwab not want clients to talk to folks in the client's local office? The listed number transfers automatically to an 800# call center. We previously had a number that got us through to the local office - that also now routes straight to the 800#. The phone tree has an option to the office which puts us in another looping phone tree and guess what - sluffs us off to the 800# (it also required last 4 of social security number so if you were considering being a client and wanted to talk to someone or make an appointm... read more

I moved everything I held with Merrill Lynch to Schwab 3 years ago. Lost a few easily replaced services (like a Visa card) and stopped paying huge fees for similar usage. I'm very satisfied. Wish I'd moved 20 years ago. All the $ spent on ML fees would have grown and done me a lot more good.
