The Chain is an off off bdway venue, it's small so there are no bad seats in the house. The plays themselves vary tremendously as there are a lot of new authors having their work produced in this space. Seating typically consists of rows of padded chairs with no railings and it is very difficult to manage going up and down the stairs if you have mobility challenges. I generally cling to the backs and arms of aisle chairs.

If you’re looking for cutting edge off-broadway theatre, you have come to the right place! They have produced plays written by Tony award and Pulitzer Prize winning playwrights, and when you go to see one you understand why. They are executing bold, edgy, attention worthy work at the highest levels. The talent and vision is on par with anything you would see at The Public or The Atlantic. An amazing space run by incredible human beings! Do not sleep on The Chain!

I absolutely love visiting the chain when I’m in NYC. It’s such a great venue which offer such a great assortment of theatre. The staff are lovely, and it always attracts a great crowd of like minded people. Can’t wait to visit again next trip.
