Wow... my greeting upon entering Albert's studio was an inquiry, "Do you have a credit card?" and followed by "are you planning on buying or just looking around?". My brother-in-law who is a cermacist himself responded that we may buy depending on our interest in his work. Albert dismissed us immediately saying his work was "top secret". This dude is the rudest person we've encountered in Hawaii. This man was astonishingly rude and dismissive. Maybe alienating people is how he defines himself artistically, which would explain the stagnant and derivative nature of his work. Check out Luminous Ceramics (the MOST lovely woman) right here on Maui, or Light Wave Pottery on Kauai - both of whom will welcome you into their studio and gallery with a joy for ceramic art and the connections it can forge between people across continents and oceans.
