Jean was my sister in law on life support. As we approached the day of making a life support decision we met with hospital staff and palliative care team to aid in our decision. We met with teams 2x. Never once was organ donation mentioned. WE made the difficult decision to take jeanie from life support with the help of the palliative team. The people that contacted our family were not emphatic at all that we just lost our brother. I understand they need information for the recipients. They contacted us 3 days after his passing which happened to be Christmas Eve. This is our first holiday without him. They could care less. I answered their questions for 30 minutes. I was trying to prepare Xmas Eve dinner. Needless to say they ruined the whole holiday. It was bad enough losing our brother. They did not have to open those wounds again. Any conversation ends with being assured that if there's anything they can do to help, it will be done. They cared for my son, and kept me informed of the process. Their sensitivity and kindness was felt every step of the way.
