Serious scammers here. Beware! The letters I received say I was in Venice in 2015 (LIE). While in Venice, they say I received two traffic tickets (LIE, see first point). Further, the letters say they have proof of these allegations, and have previously contacted me for payment (LIE, again). All told, they want me to pay $1,008.12. I can prove these are lies, and I'm not paying a penny. I know times are tough, but this isn't an honest business at all, this is a SCAM! There are other seniors out there that would pay this fro... read more

How does a scammer even get listed on the BBB? They were emailing me about a charge I had for "car2go Italia". (I have never been to Italy, so this sent up red flag number one). After numerous attempts to email them for clarification and receiving the same diplomatic "I'm sorry for you frustration...please pay your debt" auto-reply, I finally just called them. They told me it was from a rental for a car2go in Austin Texas. Here's the fun part....I have never been to Texas either! I also checked my banking records, credit and... read more

Scam of a "business" constant calling and letters to me about a medical bill. The crazy part is, I was an active duty Marine during that time so the military/tri-care pays for my medical necessities. They also keep trying to have me tell them my Zip code as some kind of "authentication" method. My primary job relies around security (digital and technology) and a zip code is probably the last thing you should ever use as an authentication method of who you are.

Business response:

Hi Joshua, We understand how frustrating it can be to receive an unexpected bill. We're happy to help find a resolution. Information About Medical Claims in Collections In general, if insurance should have covered a medical claim and did not, it's often a simple matter of contacting the insurance company and submitting the claim. The insurance company will then pay and the account will be closed. If needed, our courteous team is available to help individuals contact their insurance to resolve their claims. In some cases,... read more

If Cedars is contacting you about a foreign traffic ticket, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PAY IT. They CANNOT touch your credit report. This is established, written policy, you can double check with the individual credit reporting agencies like Equifax or Transunion if you want to be sure. Traffic tickets of ANY kind (not even US tickets) are NOT allowed on credit reports. Also, Cedars cannot SUE you. There is no standing to sue an American in US court for violating a foreign traffic law. So the only thing they CAN do is to send you a ... read more

I had the same experience yesterday as John S rand others. I received a letter from CBS last week claiming that I owe $479.83 for a ZTL violation in Pisa Italy. No details were provided on why the amount was so high and when I went to the https://info.myfines.it website it said I owed about 141 USD. I paid the 141 USD, thanks to google translate, and thought it was done. Now, they say I owe an additional 338.83 dollars due to chargers logged by Italy local authority but they won't send proof of the debt. The Italian governme... read more

Business response:

Hi *******, We take pride in the level of service our account managers provide and are sad to learn that your experience was less than satisfactory. If Italian citations are left unpaid, the municipality applies penalties in accordance with Italian Highway Code, Articles 201 and 202. The penalty for non-payment within 60 days of the final citation notice is double the sum of the citation amount. Additional fees related to the collection process may be added by the municipality, according to the Code. As penalties and fees... read more

Scumbags! Call my phone and refuse to tell me what or who they are only that some terrorist wants to speak with Blah Blah Blah. Finally had to look up the phone number online for these scammers to find out who they were. And of course, they had the wrong number! SCAM SCAM!!

Absolute harassment! They are saying that I have unpaid tickets from a trip to Italy in 2019. I have sent an email from the authorities in Italy saying that I have paid. They are refusing to take me off their list and say that I need to show proof of payment. I AM NOT GOING TO SEND THEM MY CREDIT CARD STATEMENTS. This is unnecessary and they are a total fraud.

Business response:

Hi Wyndie, We understand how frustrating receiving citations can be. It's not uncommon to receive more than one citation while traveling in Italy, as violations are captured automatically by traffic camera and each citation is sent separately. It's important to check the citation number and amount to make sure it is the correct one. When a rental car is cited, the municipality sends the citation(s) to the rental car agency, which provides a report of the responsible party. According to Article 201 of the Italian Highway C... read more
