I would like to note that the company has not acted transparently or fairly in handling this issue. Despite the clear circumstances and the fact that I was not at fault, they refused to refund the amount I had paid or provide any compensation for the inconvenience and losses I suffered. it was the rental office that refused to hand over the car to me. I booked a car through CarTrawler (provider: Goldcar) to travel through Italy and Austria — a dream trip we had saved for all year. At no point was I clearly warned that crossing into Austria was forbidden. On pickup day, after a delayed flight, I desperately called the phone numbers provided six times. No one answered. Booked a car through CarTrawler for a trip to Egypt. Despite presenting a valid UAE driving license, I was refused the vehicle. The rental desk staff were uncooperative and cancelled my booking on the spot without offering any solutions. The issue? Terrible and creepy. Booked a car using my airline’s rewards and didn’t know I’d be dealing with CarTrawler as their third party broker. They booked my car with an agency that overcharged me by $503 without justification and won’t respond to my calls and emails. Terrible experience and a warning to others. I booked a car using my American Airlines rewards and didn’t know CarTrawler is their third party broker. CarTrawler arranged my rental with a company that overcharged me $503 above the booking agreement and will not explain why. They refuse to answer my calls and emails.
