In February of 1961, Carlie C and Joyce McLamb opened a small country store in Johnston County on Highway 242. Right from the start, they understood the challenges that lay ahead of them. They knew that it would be hard work, but neither one of them had ever been afraid of working hard for what they wanted. Great deli sandwiches, 9 layer chocolate cake and other delicious Southern desserts. Nice indoor seating area to enjoy your purchases.
Last week, my colleague decided to have seafood for dinner. She went to pick up some lobster tails and other ingredients she wanted to cook. By the time she reached the register, she had a fairly large basket of items. As she approached the checkout, the cashier stepped from behind the register and asked, “How are you going to pay?” My colleague was caught off guard and just looked at him. My favorite food store in Washington! Best meats in town! The store is just the right size. I hope the new owners don't change the store too much! Piggy Wiggly , no more! Carlie's C now! Small changes by the new owners. Now it has a hot food bar and a bakery. Great cakes from here! Super produce.
