I have Carilion insurance. They don't tell you upfront if your insurance will cover the cost of a test. They make you call the insurance yourself and find out how much you'll have to pay. Not good business.
Zero stars doesn't began to express my frustration here. Friendly, but completely useless with billing issues! Never managed to receive an answer to any of my questions. No help, no resolution. Lots of awkward hold time during calls with reps and seemingly scripted dialog to navigate the conversation. Also, important to note, that if your insurance denies a claim (essential making you uninsured for that visit), you will be required to pay out of pocket FULL PRICE!!!. Zero stars would be better. Sent a form that was necessary and they claimed never receing it despite the fact I received a read receipt when I sent it! Zero accountability. Best advice, visit the CEO office at RMH in person. Call the patient advocate service at RMH. Report to BBB. All three of those help billing to do a better job, fast!
I had a regular appointment for my colitis. I called to schedule an appointment. I was advised I needed a referral from my previous doctor. I obtained the referral and got booked. Later, I was billed in full by Carilion. I called my insurance. They advised it was denied due to no referral. Carilion then said they didn't have the referral. I called my previous doctor's office and had it sent. Again. I called Carilion to confirm the got it. They admitted they had it the entire time, but she would send it to my insurance.
