This nine-car barge is ferried across the Willamette River by an underwater cable. Operating almost continuously since 1914, the boat resembles a trolley connected to an overhead electric power supply. The cost is $1.25 per car and the ride is an essential part of your leisure visit to Southeast Portland. Expect a wait, the ferry is one of the few ways to cross the river in this part of town, making it very popular with commuters. Note that this business accepts only cash.

On a warm sunny afternoon if you live in the Portland metropolitan area down to the Salem area and you are looking for a pleasant country drive but perhaps with something a little extra Google maps can show you the way to the canby ferry and for $5 you wait your turn and the small furry load you up and takes you across the river.. it's a perfect touch of Oregon and what it stands for....... Always pleasant surprises around the next bend in the road.
Fun experience
Got us to the other side from Canby to Wilsonville much faster than dealing with I5 backup.
If you pull up and the ferry is on the other side of the river, they will wait until they have a car to cross. Expect to wait.
