In clarification to the Dana post. All penalties and problems that are alleged in her post were incurred prior to her ever coming to our place of business. The filing periods and penalties assessed were the result of her own negligence or by the negligence of another accounting firm since we didn't prepare those returns. Just so everyone's aware, In order to abate penalties you have to have reasonable cause. If you do not provide reasonable cause, you cannot get out of the penalties. Regards Mitch Duncombe

This company lied to her face 2 times. We ended up getting an $800 penalty because sales taxes not filed on time. He said he wrote a letter asking for the penalty be to be reduced and he did not. As I checked and called Minnesota state they said they received nothing from him. Also he was going to call and check on a credit we were supposed to be getting back from the IRS. He never actually called even. That was another lie. He is very unprofessional and wore dirty t-shirt every time we saw him. Big dog t-shirts to be exact ... read more

crooked company – This company took advantage of a another small family business in crisis in 2010- swindled thousands of dollars before being caught, than responded with lying, non-cooperation and disrespect. This company is non-ethical, dishonest and crooked.

Great to work with, very helpful – Canwest was very helpful, easy to work with and very accomodating. Helped me immensely with a difficult tax situation. A much better outcome than I expected thanks to their courteous staff.

Avoid this unprofessional and high priced firm at all cost. – Took advantage of a family business having problems by charging an unnecessary $700.00 monthly fee to "assist" with the bookkeeping. Accused family member of stealing $500.00 week. Claimed to have "proof." Was 100% wrong and was unable to explain where the money went even though he was in charge of monthly bookkeeping. Disrespectful, lying, overcharging and inept that sums up Can-West Consulting.
