Why is there a statute of Confederate John C. Calhoun in a Confederate uniform in front of the Courthouse? I get it the County was arbitrarily named after Vice President Calhoun in the 1850s, but Iowa was a Union state and was repeatedly attacked by Bushwhacker Confederate rebels from the South. The statute is not old or historic. Why I the world would this county support this statue?
