New York's uber-cheap, old-school answer to Home Depot. – The Scene
Let it be known that every city needs a hardware store like this. As you enter this no-frills hardware nirvana, marvel at the impressive display wall of mounted power-drills, circular saws, Swiss Army knives and more. Yes, the place is a bit ramshackle and a bit dusty, but that adds to the overall charm.
The rainbow display of duct tape--over 25 different colors--is a sight to behold. The range of products runs the gamut from wooden dowels for your kid's next art project to locks and chains to secure your precious mountain bike. But make sure you ask for help, or else you'll never find what you came in for (you'll still leave with a bag of stuff). The staff can be prickly, but patience will lead you to those hard-to-find items. And the prices are so reasonable that you'll think you're in Kansas.
