Indeed some fond memories of it when it was Luella Elementary. Started there in kindergarten in 1958 graduating 8th grade in June of 1967. We moved after graduation so I wouldn't have to endure the issues of Bowen High School. The "Manor" in the 50's till around 1966 (when the Speck Murders occurred across from the school) was like a "Leave It To Beaver" neighborhood. No crime, safe where everyone knew each other. The building does indeed look well preserved. So sad to see that the gangs have ravaged the area.
7 student nurses where killed by Richard Speck just across the street in 1967. Give it 2 more stars for for their lives,
