We stayed here for 10 nights August to September 2024 . The cottage was immaculately clean and we had everything we needed to self cater . The area is very quiet and the view from the back of the cottage looked out onto lovely rolling Scottish Borders scenery . The owner was very welcoming and helpful . The cottage was ideally situated for visits to Floors Castle , Mellerstain House and Melrose Abbey . Our first stay at Mungos Well Cottage and what a Gem!!! A lovely welcome from Yvette ( and Molly), the cottage is so homely, well equipped and wonderful views ' all around'! We shall certainly recommend and return - hopefully soon! Many thanks Yvette!!
Another great stay in Mungo's Well, one of three cottages at Burnbrae. Over the years we've also stayed in the other two - all are spotlessly clean, well equipped and welcoming - try Yvette's home-baked scones when you arrive! There's so much to explore locally or further afield but it can be hard to move from the conservatory with its wide reaching views and abundant bird life on the well stocked garden feeders, or just enjoy the beautiful gardens round the cottages and a wander down the fields to stroll along Eden Water. A real hidden gem. The cottage was spotlessly clean, with plenty of small touches to make us feel welcome. Begrum cottage was warm and comfortable, and was furnished with everything we needed for our stay. The view over the walled garden on to rolling fields was beautiful. Would highly recommend.
Our second stay was just as happy as the first. The cottage is impressively well equipped with high quality furnishings, cutlery and all kitchen equipment, as well as with the small items that make a stay there so comfortable. It feels welcoming from the moment you step in through the door, really warm in the worst of weather, and home made goodies awaiting the weary travellers!
