Requested vehicle type not available and lots of efforts to upsell when collecting vehicle, then assigned the same vehicle as another customer. Actual vehicle we ended up with was clean and modern, other good aspects were easy drop off and location super close to terminals - and overall, the deal we received for the vehicle class was good.

Rental pickup and drop off were good but insurance costs are a rip off. I can insure a car fully comprehensively for a year for less than Budget wanted to charge me for 3 weeks. Also, I stupidly lost my key. No big deal except I couldn’t get through to the airport branch that I hired from to get the spare. The call centre couldn’t get through to them either. Two stars given mainly for the convenience of pick-up from airport, and drop-off. Loss stars due to the constant anxiety I had driving around Melbourne and it's messed up roads scared to endure any damage due to the lady at the front desk coercing me to pay additional to avoid the MASSIVE excess fee that I declined out of principal. High-pressuring sales tactics followed by asking if our car is even big enough to fit our x2 medium sized bags (we were a party of two by the way).

Before I took my vehicle away, I asked what fuel it took, as it was $5 a litre charge. The attendant said all info would be in vehicle or on fuel cap....like any ordinary car.....do you think I could find it anyway in the car, fuel cap, contract????? Its almost as if it's intentionally left out. The stress of pulling up to the gas station,hunting around attempting to locate some mythical documentation that should be clear as day, inside the vehicle was too stressful. I left it unfilled and await charges.
