Thank you to Ade and Carla for their excellent customer service and doing their best to facilitate our hire agreement whilst experiencing difficulties with our card. As international visitors they were amazing to us. They did everything within their power to get a work around. Through no fault of theirs, the Budget system only allows for cards to be swiped, there is no facility for chip and pin which is really needed to facilitate international visitors. Made a reservation for 9 AM today, got a call at 8:30 AM saying they had no cars because everyone who was supposed to return a vehicle, extended. Told me maybe they would have a car by noon time. Terrible way to do service. Especially when you make the reservation and pre-pay it clearly states no modifications, no change to times, if you return a day early you will not be credited. I rented a car from Budget Peabody on July 20, 2025 and canceled the reservation on July 23 due to a death in my family. We are now at the end of September, and I have still not received my refund. I have called customer service several times, even with my credit card company on the line confirming that no credit was ever issued, yet Budget continues to insist otherwise and refuses to resolve the matter. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. This was one of the worst rental experiences I’ve ever had. I rented a cargo van to transport supplies for my baby shower. I picked up the van on Friday and arranged an after-hours drop-off for Saturday night—just one day later—because I was told extending the rental until Sunday morning would cost an outrageous $300.
