If I could give negative stars, I would. I’ve never had such a spectacularly bad experience renting a car — and I’ve rented from some questionable places before. I don’t even know where to start. After waiting all night for the Budget counter to open at 6 a.m., like their website promised, I discovered… they just don’t. I rented the cheapest car as I needed to get from point A to B so I didn’t care. The car advertised was a Kia Nero or similar. I got a Kia Nero. It was a nice little car. The problem was it was PURE ELECTRIC! One I wasn’t told this! Two I was given this with no direction on how to charge it. Three I was given it with 80 miles left (roughly 28% charge). Great customer service provided by Ramona when we picked up our truck. They were super helpful and got our rental processed quickly.
Absolute terribel experience. Rented a car with Budget from BWI and as we got about 8-10 miles away in downtown Baltimore, on a 1 way road with no shoulder, our 2023 Chevy Malibu just DIED. My wife and I were stuck having to push the car in the middle of highly congested traffic to find a place to turn off the 1 way road. The Malibu said the Batery Charging equipment was not working properly. We called the Roadsode assistance and set up a Tow ans they told us it would be between 2 and 3 hours. The agent at the counter tried to give me an electric kona without any indication on the reservation or warning it would not be a gas car. Unacceptable for anyone traveling more than ~120 miles on a deadline. I would not rent from Budget again.
