Picked hired car up from embassy suites, I was 20 mins early and car was ready for me, toyota rav4, nice car, brilliant price for the 10 days, returned car with full tank etc, tried this company after a bad experience last year with a different company so will definitely be using them again

Upon pick-up, I informed the agent that the "premium" car smelled like smoke, he told me it was the leather. Less than an hour later I called the agent to report that the car was making a clanking noise when you turned the wheel to the right. I was told to drive three hours to the nearest airport and make an exchange, if that was even possible. Returned our Budget rental car spotless after a Florida trip—full tank, no damage, no trash, no issues. A few days later, we were hit with an $89 “cleaning fee” despite zero explanation or proof. No photos, no details—just an arbitrary charge. We didn’t take pictures when we dropped it off (lesson learned), so they got away with it. If you rent from Budget, document EVERYTHING—interior, exterior, fuel gauge, mileage, timestamps. This feels like a shady way to nickel-and-dime customers.
