On July 20, 2024, I rented a car from Budget Rental in Ithaca, New York, and returned the vehicle to Boston Airport on July 21, 2024. I was unfairly charged a $450 cleaning fee because they claimed I caused a smoke smell in the car. However, the smoke smell was already present when I picked up the car. The damage photos they provided are unrelated to the smoke smell, just as the photos I took when I picked up the car are unrelated to the smell.
