Budget Rental is anything but budget! We had to rent from them as we had an accident and 2 of us needed a car to get to work on a Saturday, I could have gotten a discount at another rental agency but they did not have any cars at any of their locations until Tuesday so we figured we would rent from Budget for 1 week and then switch, boy that was a big mistake. I could not believe the difference in the pricing! My son paid over $1200 for a car at Budget for a week and at the other place it was $183 for a week!
Worst company ever! I hesitated to reserve a car from them due to past experience and I should have listened to my instincts. They closed the location four days after my reservation which was three weeks in advance of my trip and then did not notify me. So day of my trip I’m left without a rental and NO ONE else had a 7-passenger van available for my dates either. I will never again be screwed by Budget.
Trust the reviews! Spend slightly more with other rental companies to save yourself the headache. I’ve had a bad experience with the ROA Airport Budget since the beginning, over a month ago. First, we booked a Grand Cherokee L (“or similar”) on the website, our email confirmation said a Chevy Traverse (“or similar”), we received a VW Atlas. We have a Subaru Ascent and needed something slightly bigger to fit our bags for a roadtrip, but the Atlas we ended up with was exactly the same size as our Ascent, if not slightly smalle... read more
ONLY reason we are giving one star is because the nice lady Ronda that ended up taking on the job and helping us NICELY deserves all the credit that took place. This was an absolute nightmare! We asked kindly if there was a bigger upgrade due to needing more trunk space for a wheelchair!! The manager at the Roanoke airport location is a TOTAL AZZ hat, he rudely stated "they had no upgrades but what we paid for". !!
