First — PLEASE read everything before signing. That part is on me. But $9.99 per gallon of gas?! Come on. Terrible customer service at Austin Bergstrom airport. Rude service. Took 3 attempts to get a car. Wrong car in lot space assigned to us. No help from Budget-Avis desk. 2 people working To accommodate Budget and Avis desks. 20 or so customers waiting in line. Manager I called was rude and dismissive. I will never use Budget or Avis again.

Update: kudos to Budget. They did the right thing and refunded the money! I will definitely be using them again! Rented an EV from Orlando to visit family in Keystone Heights, FL. On the way back to the airport the car stopped charging and I got stranded in Ocala, FL. I ended up missing my flight and had to pay an extra $150 for the next flight. They know exactly how to steal your money "legally". When the car was returned I said the gas is not full, they were like, "Its fine, you are good!" (But I didnt know that it means - "Its fine, you are good, we will charge your card for that anyways"!) They wont be transparent with you regarding gas filling charge. The reply to the surprise charges incurred on my account was, "you signed the contract, we are not responsible to tell you that"!
