I strongly recommend avoiding the Avis/Budget location at New Haven Union Station. I rent from Avis regularly, and this was by far my worst experience. My husband and I arrived with a confirmed Avis reservation for a minivan at approximately $385. The representative, Mahmoud, told us our discount code was invalid despite our repeatedly explaining that we booked directly through the Avis app as we normally do. Good customer service and excellent price
This is the worst budget rental office I have ever seen. The staff member in the office, claimed he is the owner of the business, was very rude and cursed customer. Avoid this place. If you look into other reviews you will see very similar experience and feedback from others
Never again. Did a 2 day pre-pay rental and picked the car up as planned on 8/4 in New Haven CT with the plan to take it to Long Island on the ferry for my father's memorial service at 5pm 8/5. Drove the car approximately 6 miles total on 8/4. On 8/5 car would not start. Check engine lights, battery and oil all lit up on dashboard. Called customer service, tow truck could not come for 2 hours. I changed my ferry ticket across the sound-but they had NO REPLACEMENT car available for me. I really had a great experience renting with Budget at Union Station. Ali was extremely helpful and accommodating. Totally recommend.
