Had long wait times to pick up the car with clear instructions given (with sign on the check out desk) on how to return the car after hours (2nd floor of parking garage, and key in drop box). Then, we find out they try to charge us for an extra day because the workers did not check in the car until the next day after we returned it. Luckily, we were able to get it refunded by calling Customer Service, but now they tell us that this location does not accept returns after hours and this is why they charged us. Horrible experience. We reserved an SUV for 8am pick up the day of our wedding. We arrived at 8am and they told us it would be a few minutes. After an hour and a half of waiting, they told us they didn’t have an SUV and would need to give us a different car and they couldn’t refund us the difference given it was a lesser car. And we had to continue waiting for this new lesser car to be cleaned. The young woman at the desk was rude, short and unhelpful. Never will rent here again.
One of the worst customer service experiences I’ve had with a rental car company in the U.S. I rented from this Budget location in September 2026, and both the pickup and return experiences were unnecessarily difficult and unpleasant. First, you have to walk about two blocks from the rental counter to actually pick up the car. Tl;dr: protect yourself from their overnight key drop box scam. When I first started renting cars with this budget location many years ago, they honored overnight car returns and charged me only for the time that I actually used the car. Recently, I returned a car overnight and left the key in the drop box with a parking garage ticket with the time stamp of 9pm or so, well before my 8am car return time.
