I began attending Boundaries Group meetings to seek support for the intense emotional struggles I have faced due to my adult child's opioid addiction. My initial conversations at the meetings revolved around my daughter and her needs. Her well being was my primary concern with minimal consideration for my own. After dedicated attendance I began to realize the importance of taking care of myself which in turn allowed me to better support my child in a healthier and more productive way. I learned from the Boundaries Support Group many lessons along with warm support and friendship. I try to remember the following words that were constantly reinforced at the meetings; I did not cause her addiction I can not cure her addiction I cannot control her addiction I cannot fix her. I didn’t do anything wrong I can't work her recovery for her. KAB
