From the minute I walked in I was treated warmly . The young lady at the entrance counter was very helpful . The downstairs staff greeted me as well . Another lady amongst the paintings let me know she was there if I needed her to answer any questions and filled me on the upcoming auction dates . A very pleasurable first time experience . I had a great experience with Bonhams. The condition reports on the items were very thorough and conservative. When I received the items, I found them better than I expected. I would recommend this auction house. I also had a great experience with their recommended third-party shipper, which cost less than the in-house shipping quote.
Shipping costs - For a $180 necklace, the shipping Charges were $56.49. Most other auction houses would charge less than $20 for the shipping. This is on top of the 28% premium to the auction house. The amount charged by Bonhams is too high.
I bought a watch at a Bonhams Auction On Wednesday. The entire team was super nice and helpful. I received the watch on Friday morning same week. This is a lightning fast delivery for any purchase, and certainly for an Auction. Over the last several years, i have bought over a dozen items from several auction houses. I have never received service even close to this good. Hoping to Buy from Bonhams again soon, and often. Thank you especially to Max Monica, Rachel, Adam. I am so pleased and grateful.
I am writing this review to express my utter dismay and disappointment regarding the abysmal level of service and professionalism from Bonhams. In all my years of engaging with auction houses, I have never encountered a more reprehensible, incompetent, and discourteous group of individuals such as Bonhams.
