The location was posted on Google as open until 8pm. However, when I arrived, the sign on the door said the center is only open when they have an event going on so the actual building was closed. I did a short walk around in the area but since there was no one around, I didn't want to venture out into the forest by myself alone. There is a porta potty for a restroom by the parking if needed. When departing I ran across two beautiful fawns by the road so I stopped to take some pics and a video.
Great birdwatching! Saw (and heard many) Painted Buntings. 12 types of birds total. We took a 4 mile hike and ended up getting lost - Hannah from the Nature Center came to our rescue, after describing our location she knew exactly where we were and jogged down (with ice and cold water no less) to guide us back to 'civilization'. Very grateful to Hannah's assistance on the 100°+ day!! Will definitely want to visit again the next time we are in the Fort Worth area!
