Do NOT do business with BMO Bank. In my experience they are completely incompetent and have no problem holding your money with no real explanation. I deposited a legitimate check issued by the State of Illinois. Four hours later my account was frozen and I was told they needed to “verify the funds” due to possible fraud. That was over 8 days ago and they are still claiming they need more time to verify it. I personally called the Illinois State Comptroller’s Office and they verified the check in under 20 minutes.
