I had a CD for around $32,000 that matured, but I was out of town. Upon returning, I had a letter stating I had 10 days to act on renewing my CD. I immediately went to a branch in Lisle to renew it. It was 3 days after the 10-day grace period. You Canadians took that money and put it in a 1.24% CD, and I was told if I wanted to put it in a higher rate of interest CD, I would have to pay the penalty of $200.00. I would never bank here. Customer service is unreal, when I needed to cash a check the bank manager and personal banker asking why I need my money, where I worked and other personal information. Stated that information is needed to cash a check or take money out of your account . Keep in mind that it was not a large check and funds are available in that account. After this experience, I will never bank here again. Account is closed. Moving to another bank with my accounts.
I use bmo (in canada though) and it has been always easy to work with them (especially since they have branches that offer longer hours of service)
