The reason everyone goes to Alaska is to have an epic experience. There are many factors that make that happen. Skiing the big lines is only one part of it. First of all don't even consider flying from Anchorage to Valdez. The flights basically don't happen to often. Just rent a vehicle and make the scenic drive. Arriving in the late evening isn't ideal when you miss out on a meal and are treated with the granola bar option. Operators should basically tell clients to drive. 10/10 I cannot recommend a heliski day with Black Ops Valdez enough. I am scared of helicopters and was really hesitant to try out a heliski day (but powder calls!). Tabitha and her team encouraged me, and prepared me completely for the flight. I can’t speak enough to how great our day was. Micah was our extremely talented pilot, Ryan and Steve were our guides and I can’t speak enough to their professionalism, preparedness, and overall love and understanding of this terrain.
