WASTE OF MONEY - PRINCIPAL MORALLY CHALLENGED!!!! I had an awful experience with the pre-k program! They treated my child terribly!!!If you put your child in this program you can expect your child to get diagnosed by the pre-k teacher with every aliment and problem such as ADD, Speech and auditory issues. The pre-k teacher will then send you to St. Francis where your child will be evaluated. A+ for BDMS Bishop Dunn was my home for so much of my childhood. I attended from Kindergarten until 8th grade, as well as a camper and eventually employee of Summer Fundamentals. Now as I look back at my elementary, high school, and 4 year university--all of which were Catholic, I can strongly say that Bishop Dunn instilled values in me that followed me throughout my education and now in my career. Disciplineary Action Unfair. Bishop Dunn is an ok school if the students are willing to cooperate with the teachers. I always did, but still got in hot water, mainly thanks to the antics of the other students. One teacher stated clearly that it was against the rules of all schools for students to say they were innocent when punished or reprimanded as part of a group. That lying about being guilty and refusing to defend yourself were two perfect ways to respect your elders. I hated that rule, but decided to obey it just to be... read more
Can't Believe These People Are Christian The pre-k teacher called my house after I got off the phone with her, I thought my daughter had a brain tumor. I spent three days in bed crying before I found out from our doctor it was nothing. The best way to describe this program is that it is like boot camp. They are extremely anal about everything, but truly know nothing. The children are expected to know everything before entering the program. UNETHICAL, IMMORAL - Total Disappointment In my opinion and in my experience the pre-k teacher is horrible!!!My child is afraid to try anything after she went to this pre-k class.The teacher refused to help her with her zipper. My daughter can do zippers, but sometimes gets stuck. The teacher refused to help her with the smock for painting, so my daughter NEVER got to paint. This teacher does not seem to understand that my daughter just turned 4, she is not 11. I'm paying all this money for a teacher that would not even help... read more
Parent If you (above) have such a problem with the pre-K program, then stand up for your children and speak to the teacher and/or principle. Why are you on this site complaining about it?
Excellent School This school is outstanding. My child has attended since Kindergarten. The staff, teachers and principal are outstanding and we could not ask for more.
I am Mrs. O'Neill's BIGGEST fan!! I hate to see all these posts about Mrs. O'Neill. I have had her for 2 years for both of my sons. I was able to step back as a parent and observe my children from her viewpoint.. and not as a mother.. where sometimes we see EVERYTHING as unfair to our kids. Mrs. O'Neill has the objective to push the kids to their own personal limits so they can feel the sense of accomplishments for doing a task well done. Great school This a great school, with warm, loving teachers and staff. They offer pre-k thru 8th grade, with plenty of activities such as a basketball and a soccer team. Band, drama and chorus are also offered.
