WASTE OF MONEY - PRINCIPAL MORALLY CHALLENGED!!!! I had an awful experience with the pre-k program! They treated my child terribly!!!If you put your child in this program you can expect your child to get diagnosed by the pre-k teacher with every aliment and problem such as ADD, Speech and auditory issues. The pre-k teacher will then send you to St. Francis where your child will be evaluated. A+ for BDMS Bishop Dunn was my home for so much of my childhood. I attended from Kindergarten until 8th grade, as well as a camper and eventually employee of Summer Fundamentals. Now as I look back at my elementary, high school, and 4 year university--all of which were Catholic, I can strongly say that Bishop Dunn instilled values in me that followed me throughout my education and now in my career. Can't Believe These People Are Christian The pre-k teacher called my house after I got off the phone with her, I thought my daughter had a brain tumor. I spent three days in bed crying before I found out from our doctor it was nothing. The best way to describe this program is that it is like boot camp. They are extremely anal about everything, but truly know nothing. The children are expected to know everything before entering the program. UNETHICAL, IMMORAL - Total Disappointment In my opinion and in my experience the pre-k teacher is horrible!!!My child is afraid to try anything after she went to this pre-k class.The teacher refused to help her with her zipper. My daughter can do zippers, but sometimes gets stuck. The teacher refused to help her with the smock for painting, so my daughter NEVER got to paint. This teacher does not seem to understand that my daughter just turned 4, she is not 11. I'm paying all this money for a teacher that would not even help... read more
Parent If you (above) have such a problem with the pre-K program, then stand up for your children and speak to the teacher and/or principle. Why are you on this site complaining about it?
Excellent School This school is outstanding. My child has attended since Kindergarten. The staff, teachers and principal are outstanding and we could not ask for more.
I Love My School! Bishop Dunn is a great school and I should know, I go there. Unlike some of the kids in my class, I did not start here until 2nd grade, but all of the kids in my class that did go here in pre-k and kindergarten say Mrs. O' Neill was great!!!! I'm now in 7th grade and definitely still want to go here until 8th. I love BDM's teachers, academics, and especially activities like basketball, Drama, Choir and brownies (its like a younger version of Girl Scouts). Great school This a great school, with warm, loving teachers and staff. They offer pre-k thru 8th grade, with plenty of activities such as a basketball and a soccer team. Band, drama and chorus are also offered.
PreK was Stressful I did not appreciate the heavy handiness of this class. My son was stressed out. He was intimated by the teacher, who would get mad at him if he did not know how to open the milk container or if he opened it at the wrong end. Beware that eating too slow is also prohibited. When I spoke to the teacher she did not show any sensitivity, she just stated in an annoyed tone that he needed to be independent for this class. I expressed my concern to the princiopal.
