A great neighborhood bike shop Bike World in W. Des Moines has knowledgable employees who can assist the novice biker to the most experienced one. They have bicycling equipment including bike clothing, accessories, shoes and, of course, bikes in a wide variety of price ranges. Their service department is also excellent and prompt in their service (as long as you don't bring your bike in right before RAGBRAI!). The staff are ready help, but also will let you browse. I recommend them for your cycling needs.
