Had an awesome experience renting with Big Island Jeep Rentals! They are reasonably priced, easy to locate, and the Jeep even came with beach chairs, a cooler, umbrella and snorkel gear! The whole team was super helpful and made everything really easy from start to finish. The Jeep was in great shape and perfect for cruising around the island (even up Mauna Kea)! Jimmy even gave us a few local tips that made the trip even better. Cannot recommend enough!
Follow-up on below: We have been to Kona now 3 times with a 4th trip planned for June 2026. The last visit we were there in July during the tsunami....needless to say, our flights canceled and couldn't get rebooked until 5 days later....we had already returned the jeep...contacted Joe and he got us hooked up with the Hammerhead jeep last minute....we will always go with Big Island Jeep Rental when we travel to Kona...you can't get this type of service with the big car rental agencies. 🤙 Mahalo Joe and Team at Big Island Jee... read more
Rental pick up and return process was super easy. They keep you actively informed by text of any changes or updates. Jeep is clean and very well maintained. We had a fantastic time visiting Kekaha Kai State Park, South Point and Mauna Kea, all of which would not be possible if you don't have a jeep. First time jeeper drivers: be sure to watch the tutorial video they provided so you know how to operate the gear box.
Great family experience -
We rented a jeep from Big Island Jeep Rental and the process was easy. The jeep accommodated the need for 5 adults well and was in good clean condition and fun to drive. In addition to that it handled the trek up Mauna Kea easily and is definitely needed if you want to do that. Your rental is ready to go when you get to Kona and the office is a short distance away.
