Bicycle Toy and Hobby was started in 1927 on Wrenn Street in downtown High Point by Jesse Jennings. In the 1940's Jesse moved the store to 504 N. Main Street. Over the years the store moved away from Toys and Hobbies and focused more on bicycles. In the early 1970's Jesse son Danny and wife, Dolly, took over the family business. In 1986 Danny and Dolly moved the store to the present location at 2000 North Main Street. Today third generation son's Dale and Derric work in the store. THESE FOLKS DON’T CARE ABOUT OTHER PEOPLES TIME. THEY JUST WANT MONEY. Just a family owned business ripping people off. Never going back there again. I dropped off my bicycle on Thursday morning to get my tire tubes replaced and I was told it would be ready by later on in the afternoon. I waited all day long and didn’t get any notification from the shop. So on Friday morning I show up to the shop to ask about my bicycle and hoping it’s ready to be picked up. This shop has a long lineage and is a staple in the community. The owners are very friendly and seem to genuinely enjoy bikes. However, it has become just another mom and pop shop with a Trek partnership. No more salsa, Santa Cruz, picot, specialized, or any other brand other than trek and Electra. Bit of a shame really, because I remember being really impressed with the variety of companies they carried.
Wow! I was passing through town and saw the bike on the roof. I decided to stop. I'm glad I did. Danny immediately greeted me and we started chatting about bikes. He has a huge selection of quality new and used bikes. I got a carbon Trek Madone for a song. Highly recommended!
I came here as I planned to get into biking as a hobby. I let the folks know, and they were able to even help me with getting a good bike for general purpose riding, and a trunk mount for my car, while also helping to show me how to install it! Would definitely recommend here as a good place to go if you need help getting started.
This is one of the best bike shop experiences I’ve had. The shop is owned and expertly staffed by a lovely family who are dedicated to the joy of cycling. Featured are Trek bikes, a premium brand that gives customers a lot for their money.
