Poor communication. Underwriting moved at a glacial pace. Would not recommend.
Buyer Beware!! Better mortgage sends your mortgage to Shellpoint.. “ a predatory lender” with multiple class action lawsuits against them.. Better mortgage knows they are transferring your mortgage to Shellpoint! They know how Shellpoint does business but will transfer your loan to them any way… If you want to have a hassle and possible foreclosure.. call Better mortgage!!
Better Mortgage charges relatively high lender fees (lender mortgages at Credit Union are only $995 and have no points), and require customers to pay extra for points (which increases closing costs). When will Better Mortgage change its policies to save customers on closing costs?
I feel so cheated by this company, got a call from Joe promising good rate like 5.625% .I was looking to lower my mortgage payment. I asked if $500 was refundable. Joe stated if the appraisal doesn't come in as high as need or if they do something wrong on their end it would be refundable. Bait& Switch! We contacted Better Mortgage because it offered a no ding on credit report for looking into a home equity loan. They did offer an appealing offer and our 775 credit rating didn’t take a hit until we started the process and then in went down 25 points. After 3 weeks of jumping through hoops they denied our loan after spending $600 on an appraisal.
