About this business
Beth El Synagogue was the first Jewish Congregation in Durham. It all began in 1884, when four of the first Jewish settlers here bought a piece of land to establish a small gathering place at the Maplewood cemetery. The congregation was soon formed in 1887 and followed quite an orthodox tradition.
