we are a family-owned dairy farm located in Menominee, Illinois (halfway between East Dubuque & Galena,IL). We milk 400 cows, mostly Holsteins (the black and white ones!) and run about 850 acres. We’re passionate about what we do, and we love educating others about what farming looks like today. Come visit! We had the BEST experience at Berning Acres! Natalie and Matt were so welcoming, kind, and knowledgeable. The care, science, and technology they use is fascinating and gave me a whole new appreciation for farming. We loved seeing cows at every stage of life—from an hour-old calf to nursing mamas! My daughters especially loved bottle-feeding the calves and seeing all the animals. Ava, their helper, was so sweet and helpful. This is such a fun way to support a local business and a family farm! The tours are fun, engaging, and very educational. We especially loved learning about sustainable dairy farming but the true highlight was bottle feeding calves! The entire family is quite congenial- and the farm animals are, too. Berning Acres offers both a dose of nostalgia and a unique glimpse into modern farming. This is something everyone living in or visiting the Midwest must experience!
