IEP middle school student received a denial letter due to “an unprecedented number of students submitted applications for admission”. So.. little back ground, tech centers were born to serve students that do not thrive in a traditional educational environments allowing them to work with their hands (kinesthetic). If these IEP students are made to compete with non-IEP students for these “limited” spots, then how can they ever truly have a fair shot?

My review is a 1 star solely because of my teacher, Mr. Ireland. Because of him, my education taught me most of what I needed to learn. He tries his absolute hardest to make our schooling worth it with what he has, as the school doesn’t supply him with much curriculum or resources. There isn’t really a curriculum you follow, you kind of just go in the shop and assume this is what you should be doing. I can’t speak to other programs at this school but I can speak to the welding and fabrication program. There are many issues that are too extensive to include in this review. From the lack of a curriculum and supplies to the lack of concern or desire to address any issues brought to the school’s attention I would highly recommend researching other schools for your training and education.

As a student at BCTC, I look forward to going back everyday! It’s interesting to learn something new! I’m loving the new experience of welding. In the welding program I can say that Dustin, Kyle, and Riley are absolutely awesome! They’re very helpful and will tell you the truth when it comes to your work. Honesty is what occurs in the real work field. These teachers make you feel encouraged to keep getting better and teach you how to improve! This sets up students for success.
